Permanent tooth replacement

What a dental implant actually is

An implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a missing tooth root. It sits in the jawbone, fuses with it over a few months, and then carries a crown that looks and works like the tooth you lost. Nothing is clipped to neighbouring teeth and nothing comes out at night.

For patients in 77079 that usually means one of three situations: a single tooth lost to a crack or an old failed root canal, a gap of two or three teeth that a bridge would otherwise cover, or a full arch where dentures have stopped fitting. All three are handled at 955 Dairy Ashford.

What tends to matter most to people who call us is the part before treatment. You get a 3D scan, an honest answer about whether an implant is the right choice for your case, and the full cost in writing — including the graft, if you need one — before you agree to anything.

One tooth or a whole arch

Implant Options We Offer

Which option suits you depends on how many teeth are missing and how much bone is left to work with. We’ll tell you which one applies at the consultation, not after you’ve committed.

Single tooth implant

One post, one crown. The neighbouring teeth are left completely untouched, which is the main reason we prefer it to a bridge when the bone allows.

Most common case

Implant bridge

Two implants carrying three or four teeth across a gap. Fewer posts than one-per-tooth, and considerably less cost, with the same fixed result.

2–4 missing teeth

Full-arch fixed teeth

Four to six implants supporting a complete fixed arch. It stays in your mouth permanently — you brush it, you don't soak it in a cup.

A whole upper or lower

Implant-retained denture

Two or four implants that a denture snaps onto. The most affordable way to stop a lower denture rocking, and it still lifts out for cleaning.

Budget-conscious option

Start to finish

How the treatment runs

Implants are a staged treatment, not a single appointment. Here is the order it happens in and roughly how long each part takes.

01

Consultation and 3D scan

One visit · about 45 minutes

We examine the site, take a 3D cone-beam scan and measure the bone. This is where we find out whether you can go straight to placement or need a graft first — and it is the honest answer, even when that answer is that an implant is not your best option.

02

Written plan and cost

Same visit

You leave with the sequence, the timeline and the total in writing. If you have insurance we verify your benefits first; if you don't, we go through the membership plan and the financing options with you.

03

Placing the implant

One visit · 60–90 minutes

Dr. Gandhi places the post under local anaesthetic, with sedation available if you want it. Most patients go back to work the following day and manage with over-the-counter pain relief. If a graft is needed it usually happens in this same appointment.

04

Healing and integration

Typically 3–6 months

The bone grows onto the implant surface and locks it in place. There is nothing to do during this stage except one or two quick check-ups. Where it matters for appearance, you wear a temporary tooth throughout — you will not be walking around with a gap.

05

Abutment and final crown

Two visits, a few weeks apart

We take an impression, fit the connector, and Dr. Rosario matches the crown to the shade and shape of the teeth beside it. This is the appointment people are usually surprised by, because the tooth simply looks like a tooth.

06

Reviews and upkeep

Ongoing

An implant is cleaned like a natural tooth and checked at your regular six-month visits. Looked after properly, the post itself often lasts decades; the crown on top is the part more likely to need replacing eventually.

Why patients choose us for implants

Everything in one building

Most practices in the area place the implant somewhere else and restore it back at the office. That means two record sets, two fee schedules and nobody clearly in charge of the result.

Surgery and crown under one roof

Dr. Gandhi places, Dr. Rosario restores, and they work down the corridor from each other. One team owns the outcome from scan to final bite check.

Grafting handled in-house

Bone grafts and sinus lifts are done here rather than referred out, which keeps the timeline and the cost in one place.

Sedation if you want it

Nervous patients are the norm, not the exception. We'll talk through the sedation options at the consult and there is no pressure either way.

The cost in writing first

Benefits verified before you arrive, the full figure on paper before we begin, and no invoice at the end that you weren't expecting.

Saturday appointments

Open six days a week, so surgery and follow-ups don't have to cost you vacation days from the office park.

English and Spanish

Both dentists and the whole front-desk team work in both languages, including for consent and aftercare instructions.

Before you book

Are you a candidate?

Most adults with a missing tooth are, and age on its own almost never rules anyone out — we place implants for patients well into their seventies and eighties. What matters is the bone underneath and the health of the gums around it.

You’ll likely need a graft first if the tooth has been missing for a while, because the jaw shrinks where a root used to be. That adds a few months to the timeline rather than ruling you out.

Gum disease is treated first. Placing an implant into inflamed tissue is the single most common reason implants fail later, so periodontal treatment comes before surgery, not after.

Smoking and uncontrolled diabetes both slow healing and raise the failure rate. Neither is an automatic no, but we’ll be straight with you about the odds in your specific case.

Honest comparison

Implant, bridge or denture

An implant isn’t automatically the right answer. This is roughly how the three options compare for a single missing tooth.

Implant FAQs

How much do dental implants cost in Houston?

At Fine Dental Care an implant with its crown starts at $1,999 on our membership plan. Cases needing a bone graft or a sinus lift cost more, and a full arch is priced separately. The reason nobody can quote you accurately over the phone is that the number depends on what the 3D scan shows — so we do the scan, then give you the total in writing.

The placement itself is done under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn't feel pain during it — pressure, yes, but not pain. Afterwards most patients describe it as milder than they expected and manage with over-the-counter pain relief for a couple of days. Sedation is available if the idea of the appointment is what's putting you off.

Usually three to six months from placement to final crown, because the bone needs time to fuse to the implant. If you need a graft first, add roughly three to six months to the front of that. The actual chair time across the whole treatment is only a few hours in total.

The titanium post frequently lasts decades and often the rest of the patient's life. The crown on top is the part that wears, and may need replacing after 10 to 20 years. The biggest single factor is gum health — implants can be lost to infection around them in the same way natural teeth are lost to gum disease.

Not in any position that shows. Front teeth and most premolars get a temporary tooth for the healing period. For back molars we sometimes leave the site alone to heal, and we'll tell you which applies in your case before you commit.

Yes. Our in-house membership plan is built exactly for this — one annual fee, no waiting periods, no annual maximum, and set member pricing on treatment including implants. We also offer financing for qualifying patients, and the pre-qualification application won't affect your credit score.

Age by itself is almost never the deciding factor. We routinely place implants for patients in their seventies and eighties. What we actually assess is bone volume, gum health and how well you heal — which is why the consultation and scan come before any promises.

Regularly. We're five minutes off I-10 on Dairy Ashford, which makes us straightforward to reach from Katy, Memorial, Briar Forest, Bunker Hill and the wider Energy Corridor. Parking is free and at the door, which matters more than people expect on a surgery day.

I rarely write reviews, but Dr. Gandhi and Dr. Rosario at Fine Dental Care genuinely deserve it. They completely changed my whole appearance and gave me my confidence back. I came in with a lot of major, complicated dental problems and was stressed out about the work and the cost. I had checked with several other dental clinics around different states, and Fine Dental Care was way more affordable than anywhere else I went. What made the biggest difference right away was Dr. Gandhi’s honesty. Other places tried to push extra treatments on me that I didn't need, but Dr. Gandhi sat down with me, looked at my teeth, and told me upfront what was actually necessary. He explained every single step, answered all my questions, and made sure I was completely comfortable before starting anything. His communication and patience really put me at ease. I had a lot of heavy work done with multiple root canals, crowns, and a canine bridge. Dr. Gandhi is extremely skilled and gentle. With work this major, I expected a lot of pain, but the whole process went so smoothly. Dr. Rosario and the entire team were also super professional throughout ensuring painless and perfect treatment. The final results look incredible. My teeth look way better than before, the crowns fit perfect, and the canine bridge looks completely natural. It honestly changed the way my whole face and smile look, and no one can even tell I had dental work done. If you need major, complicated dental work and want someone honest who doesn't overcharge or push unnecessary stuff, definitely go to Fine Dental Care and see Dr. Gandhi. Easily the best dental care in Houston.
